About Jeff Raley;
Jeff is a former Executive of Raytheon Technologies. His career spanned more than 36 years with the same company!
During his career with Raytheon, he held such positions as;
- Operations Director for the V2500 Nacelles Value Stream with product quality/cost/delivery responsibility,
- General Manager of the Foley, Alabama Final Assembly, Integration, and MRO facility, a benchmark site of more than 500,000 sq ft, over 1000 employees, and annual sales of over $500M,
- Senior Director of the 787 and A350 Nacelle Value Streams with delivery, Customer satisfaction, and full Profit & Loss accountibility, and
- Executive Director of Operational Excellence for Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies Business Unit, where Jeff and his Team had Continuous Improvement and Operational responsibility for approximately 200 manufacturing sites.
Jeff has experienced many successes during his Raytheon Technologies career, establishing a solid cultural base which embraced Lean and Continuous Improvement rooted in the Toyota Production System, and has sustained momentum to this day. Jeff has seen many program turnarounds related to operational quality, schedule, and cost, as well as numerous improvements with the services that are provided by the functional support groups that Jeff was responsible for (such as Engineering, Quality, Finance, Human Resources, Contracts, Material Management, Supply Chain, and others).
Jeff and the successes of his teams have been mentioned in several books written about Culture and Continuous Improvement. Because of Jeff's history of success, he was asked by (then) CEO, David Gitlin to take a corporate role as Executive Director of Operational Excellence to transfer his knowledge throughout the corporation.
Dr. James P. Womack of The Lean Enterprise Institute, a well known Lean expert and author, visited Jeff on multiple occasions and saw the results that Jeff and his Team were experiencing, Dr. Womack asked Jeff, "OK, now what are you going to do next?", causing Jeff to consider spreading his wings into the consulting arena.
Testimonials
I've worked with Jeff for several years and if anyone is looking to bring practical insight to solving their own challenges from someone who has "been there, done that" many times ... Jeff is the one you want. His easy going but tenacious style coupled with loads of credibility and authenticity allows him to offer a quick assessment and easily meld with any organization's team as they work together along the journey.Ty Cryer – ACE Master & Director of Operational Excellence Team / Retired - Raytheon Technologies
I have worked hand and hand with Mr. Raley on many projects. His devotion, expertise and knowledge in training and leadership are excellent. I’ve personally watched him take different programs that, at the very best were average, and in a short period of time turn those programs into excellence, while giving the leaders, and other employees a great sense of achievement and accomplishment. I would highly recommend Mr. Raley for any training or consulting needs you have from technical to leadership development to Continuous Improvement. Mr. Raley’s integrity, loyalty and commitment are above reproach. He can be relied upon to get the mission / job completed. Dr. CJ McBride – Sr Pastor Abiding Love Fellowship Church / Retired USAF
Jeff was at the tip of the spear transforming our business. He leads from the front and has few peers when it comes to deploying the Toyota Production System tools across an enterprise. If you're ready to embrace real change, he's your guy.Tom Donnelly – Sr. Vice President of Boeing & Airbus Nacelle Programs / Retired – Collins AerospaceProfessor - Fowler School of Business & San Diego State University
Jeff’s knowledge of the lean tools and his uncanny ability to translate that into results both vertically and horizontally within an organization is unsurpassed in my 35-year professional career. I had first-hand experience with Jeff as our site was not performing to customer expectations and with the help of his team and his leadership, we transformed a poorly performing site into a high performing operation by leveraging and sustaining use of the lean tools and shop floor management rigor.Mark Manley - Director of Operations Collins Aerospace
Over the past 10 years I’ve had the pleasure of working with, helping but mostly learning from Jeff Raley in the power of the lean tools. Jeff has lead multiple teams, sites and programs out of treacherous conditions and turned them around into profitable outcomes. His teaching, coaching and leading approach make him a unique leader in the lean world. To this day, his examples and lessons have helped me be successful in driving waste elimination aggressively to improve business results efficiently over and over.Ivan Nunez – Director of Continuous Improvement - Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions
Jeff has demonstrated the power of implementing and utilizing lean principles throughout his career as an Operations and Business Leader at Raytheon Technologies. He is a proven Lean Leader who knows how to get positive bottom-line results and sustain them year over year! Larry Strand – Vice President Boeing Programs / Sr Director Riverside, CA Facility – Collins Aerospace
Jeff helped me to transform, not only our delivery performance, but also our team’s culture & my own personal development.We went from missing customer deliveries, to dramatically shedding days to manufacture, defects, labor hours, and costs in just a few months. By month 7, we had reduced all these metrics by 50% or more, simply by applying the lean principles in their simplest form, fostering an empowering culture, and driving a bias for action. The tools work, but you must have the full site and/or program leadership bought-in and committed to embracing the tools/management style for the long haul. It’s not a 1-week training course where you pick & choose what to retain… it’s a cultural transformation that takes repetition and successes to build upon. Most powerful to me was seeing union operators engaging and identifying ways to make their jobs more efficient to help the customer & the company. Jeff’s methods helped mature our business in how we run operations, how we lead large groups, and how we develop future leaders of the business. Working with Jeff for that one year of my career helped change my mindset and propelled me into new leadership roles.Felipe Villalobos – Program Executive Director – Collins Aerospace I met Jeff Raley in 2014 when I joined United Technologies Corporation as a Program Continuous Improvement Specialist. At that time, I was a young Lean Engineer that just want to learn and be able to make a difference in the Aerospace Industry. The first time Jeff approached me in the Gemba, he asked me what opportunities that I saw in one of the Assembly areas. I told him that I couldn't tell (visually) if we were winning or losing. He told me “You are spot-on my friend”. We then walked together to another area, he asked me if I was able to see if we were winning or losing? In less than 30 seconds I told him “YES” without hesitation. He told me that he wanted to do the same for the other Assembly Line. The second Assembly area was really well organized, tools in shadow boards, ANDON lights in each cell, TAKT Time monitors and visuals in the center of the cells, even operators were approaching Jeff, as if they were “pals”, telling him that his ideas were already working.At that moment I knew that I was at the right company and with the right Leadership. I'm so thankful with Jeff's Leadership and mentorship throughout the years. If your company is struggling with any type of performance and you are looking for a real Hands-on transformation, Jeff is your guy.
